Joseph Jones is the new Superintendent of the NCC Vo-Tech School District, succeeding Vicki Gehrt, who retired July 1 after eight years as chief of the county-wide school system. Dr. Jones has worked for the district since 2005, first as an assistant principal for Howard High School of Technology, then as principal at Delcastle Technical High School, and most recently as the district Director of Assessment and Accountability.
He will oversee an annual budget of $82 million to operate four high schools – Delcastle, Hodgson, Howard, and St. Georges – and a comprehensive Adult Education Division. The NCC Vo-Tech School District has a combined enrollment of 4,700 students in grades nine through twelve, and serves more than 2,500 day and evening students in adult programs. The district has over 600 full-time employees, and ranks 11th in total enrollment out of Delaware’s 19 public school districts.
