The NCC Vo-Tech School District is pleased to announce that Jacqueline Hawkes has been appointed by the NCC Vo-Tech Board of Education as the new supervisor for the Delaware Skills Center, succeeding Michael Mulrooney, who retired in July.
Mrs. Hawkes joined the Delaware Skills Center staff as a training specialist in 2016, working directly with students, instructors, employers and the Department of Labor to assure student success and employment placement. Prior to that, she served as an employment service specialist and case manager with Goodwill Staffing. She also had a 25-year career with the News Journal as a sales and advertising executive.
“I look forward to continuing the mission of Delaware Skills Center (DSC) by delivering educational and Skills Training Programs that opens doors for individuals who are looking for rewarding careers,” said Mrs. Hawkes. “My goal is to provide flexible training programs and a learning environment that fit the needs of those who must work while attending classes to improve their education and skill set, all in order to improve their employment opportunities.”
The Delaware Skills Center, located in New Castle, is a vocational technical training center which offers certificate programs in health careers, constructions trades, and IT for unemployed and underemployed adults.
“As the DSC Supervisor, Mrs. Hawkes is responsible for instructional leadership, facility operations, and management of our outstanding programs,” said Annemarie Linden, Director of Adult Education for the NCC Vo-Tech School District. “I am confident that she not only is committed to our mission, but also possesses the skills necessary to ensure DSC’s tradition of providing excellent training opportunities for adult students will endure well into the future.”
Mrs. Hawkes, a Delaware native, earned both a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Science and a Master’s degree in Human Services Administration from Wilmington University.
