How To Obtain an Application
Applications are mailed after November 1st directly to all 8th grade public school students who live in New Castle County. Applications are also available upon request from any of the NCC Vo-Tech high schools, or by calling the NCC Vo-Tech School District Office of Admissions (302-995-8035). A printable version will be available online (see below) each year in early November.
In accordance with state regulations, all applicants must complete and submit the Delaware Standard Application for Educational Options form in addition to a supplemental form (Student Application Part II). Printable versions of both forms will be available each year at this location in early November.
For 8th Grade Applicants Seeking Admission to Grade 9
Completed print versions of both forms may be submitted directly to the NCC Vo-Tech Office of Admissions, or to any NCC Vo-Tech High School (Delcastle, Hodgson, Howard, and St. Georges). Copies of the final 7th grade and most recent 8th grade report card must be submitted with the completed application forms. Report cards must include attendance information and must be readable. Application forms and report cards may be submitted directly to NCC Vo-Tech School District Office of Admissions by mail (at NCC Vo-Tech School District Office of Admissions, 1417 Newport Road, Wilmington DE 19804), or may be dropped off at any NCC Vo-Tech high school main office or the NCC Vo-Tech Office of Admissions weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Some middle schools offer assistance with completing and submitting the application for students. Please check with the applicant’s current school to ask if it provides this service. All applications should be submitted by the second Wednesday in January in order to receive primary consideration. Submit only one application per student. Incomplete or unsigned applications cannot be reviewed.
Students and a parent/guardian may also submit an application by using an online website, www.SchoolChoiceDE.org. The online version opens in early November.
Applicants using this online website will also need to provide supplemental information, including school and career program preferences, and copies of the applicant’s final 7th grade and most recent 8th grade report card, which must include attendance, before the application is considered complete.
The NCC Vo-Tech Office of Admissions will continue to consider applications received any time during the school year or during the summer months; however, applications submitted by the second Wednesday in January do receive primary consideration. Applications submitted after that date are considered on a case-by-case basis.
The NCC Vo-Tech Admissions policy is to provide as many students as possible the opportunity to attend. Safety considerations in the schools’ career labs and available classroom space limit the number of students who can be accommodated each year.
Eighth grade students who have applied by the second Wednesday in January, and who are selected for admission to Delcastle, Hodgson, Howard, or St. Georges VoTech high schools will receive a letter in early March. Students must verify their acceptance by filing a Student Registration Form within three weeks of their notification. All admissions acceptances are “provisional” until the student is considered promoted.
* (See Delaware Promotion Requirements Below)
Students who are not offered admission will receive a letter in early March. These students may be given the opportunity for reconsideration if openings occur.
* (See Applicant Reconsideration information Below).
For Ninth Grade Applicants Seeking Admission to Grade 10
FOR 2021-22: There are no projected openings for students seeking admission to 10th grade for the 2021-22 school year, therefore there will be no admission process and no applications will be made available. In years when limited openings are projected, a 10th grade application process will be open: Ninth grade students who are not currently attending a NCC Vo-Tech high school and who are interested in applying for an opening for Grade 10 should print and complete the NCCVT Application Forms for Grade 10. The link is only available between May 1 and June 1 each year. During that time frame, applications are also available by contacting the NCC Vo-Tech Office of Admissions at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 302.995.8188. Applicants should review the list of career programs that will have openings at specific schools before completing the application. The list is available by clicking this link below – Possible Career Program Openings for Grade 10. Students and a parent/guardian may also submit an application by using an online website, www.SchoolChoiceDE.org.

Grade 9 applicants who apply in May will be notified in mid-summer.
Some students who are offered admission to a VoTech high school may not be able to accept. This will create a small number of openings for students who originally were not offered admission.
Students who have not been offered an assignment and who wish to be reconsidered should submit an updated report card, such as a copy of a 2nd, 3rd, and/or 4th marking period report card, to the Office of Admissions, NCC Vo-Tech School District, 1417 Newport Road, Wilmington, DE 19804.
As openings occur, the Office of Admissions will notify any student who, upon reconsideration, is selected for admission.
